I am a seasoned professional with nearly 40 years of experience in customer and client service, provider service and credentialing, training, project management and workforce optimization. My leadership responsibilities included development and administration of $50M budget, 600 full-time and contingent staff and the 2011-2014 implementation of the Affordable Care Act Service Operations, ensuring compliance with both Federal and State Marketplace service requirements. I also volunteered as a Mentor in the CareFirst sponsored Mentoring Program. I retired as Vice President of Commercial, Individual, Small Group and Specialty Service Operations, CareFirst BlueCross, and BlueShield at the end of 2019.
My family and I have lived in Ward Seven for 55 years, residing in the Hillcrest section of the city we love. I am a life-long member of the New Bethel Baptist Church (NBBC) located in the Shaw Community and pastored by Reverend Dexter U. Nutall. I served on NBBC’s Steward Board for 13 years, retiring as Chairperson in 2019 and continue to serve as an advisor to the church’s Finance Team. I volunteer on the Board of Directors for LightPoint, a non-profit focused on developing and promoting the improvement of housing, employment opportunities, education, healthcare, and justice in the community and volunteer once a month with the SHARE Food Network Ministry.
I have a B.A. from Dartmouth College and hold P.A.H.M. and Quality College Certifications.
I previously served on Iona’s Board of Directors from 2016-2018. My commitment to Iona’s mission and the city’s senior citizens, is informed by my personal experience and a desire improve the lives of the city’s citizens, especially those living in underserved communities.
