The Iona Washington Home Center

About

In operation since 2020, The Iona Washington Home Center is located behind The Shops at Park Village in southeast DC (3303A Stanton Road SE). The Center was formerly a warren of offices and was renovated as a state-of-the-art adult day health center in 2019.

In the last decade, the number of Washingtonians over age 60 has increased by nearly 15,000 to 117,223. Over 20,000 of these older adults live in Wards 7 and 8—wards with the least access to many basic necessities such as health care, nutritious food, and public safety.

With Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Type 2 diabetes on the rise nationally, and with African Americans twice as likely to have Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia than Caucasian older adults, there was a longstanding need to open an adult day center in Ward 8. Today, older adults and family members across the River have access to support, resources, and a safe space for engaging and nourishing daytime activities.
