Iona had the immense pleasure of welcoming South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook to our Wellness & Arts Center last week.
During her visit, the First Lady learned about our enriching day program, and spent some time experiencing firsthand the power of art therapy, along with Wellness & Arts Center participants and our Art Therapist Beth Kim.
The South Korean President and First Lady have both expressed their commitment to funding services for older adults with dementia and their families in South Korea. It was an honor to be “ambassadors” for our special program and Washington, DC.
This was such an exciting day at Iona! The fact that our art therapist, Beth Kim, is Korean-American made the visit that much more special. I appreciate all the hard work that went on behind the scenes to make this visit happen. The fact that the new President of South Korea wants to increase government funding for Alzheimer’s care is really wonderful.
