Iona Senior Services is offering a free community exercise class for people with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers, supported by the Moving Day DC grant from the Parkinson’s Foundation. Taught by a physical therapist using evidence-based exercise interventions, the exercise class is specifically geared towards those with Parkinson’s Disease (PD).

This 12-week session begins on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. At the current time we only have openings for prospective participants for the Wednesday class held from 3:15 pm – 4:00 pm. A pre-screening is required to attend.

This program also provides monthly education to caregivers and community members addressing PD pathology, progression, exercise techniques and modifiable fall risk factors in the home setting.

To register for the class, participants must provide a valid physician’s prescription certifying that they are appropriate to participate in a group exercise class and have a diagnosis of PD or Parkinsonism. Participants must also sign a liability waiver prior to participation. A pre-screening is required to attend.
