Dance for Parkinson’s
Thursday, November 3, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 2:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until Thursday, December 22, 2016
Dance for Parkinson’s follows the model of the Dance for PD® program developed by the renowned Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group. It combines live violin accompaniment and easy-to-do movement drawn from a wide range of dance styles, all of which are adaptable to varying levels of physical ability.
As participants enjoy dancing together, they are able to focus on stretching, balance, and enhanced freedom of movement-and exercise their creativity as well. Previous dance experience is not required. Family members and care partners are always welcome to join in the sessions.
The class is led by Anthony Hyatt and Robert Sacheli.
Classes take place Thursdays from 2 to 3 pm
at Iona Senior Services, 4125 Albemarle St., NW
(Limited free parking available)
The session runs November 3 to December 22 (No class Nov. 24)
Class fees (payable to Iona Senior Services) are $10 per class with registration for the complete 7 sessions or $13 per class for drop-in students.
No fee for family members or care partners. Students may begin at any time. Your introductory class is free.
