Volunteers are an invaluable part of Iona Senior Services. We carefully match and mentor each volunteer to ensure a great experience and lasting relationship. Whether you're Friendly Visitor to a homebound senior; assisting in our day programs; supporting our administration; being part of a special event; teaching a class; delivering a meal or helping with strategic planning, your time and effort will make a huge difference in a senior's life! The following steps ensure that Iona can make the most advantageous match for care receivers and volunteers alike.

Step Two: Interview
After you have completed your application, an interview will be scheduled. During the initial interview, we will provide you with a detailed description of the positions you are considering and the programs these positions support. This is also the time for Iona to learn more about your interests, goals, skills and past experiences. Some volunteer positions may require a second interview with the manager of the specific program in which you are interested in volunteering.

Step Three: Orientation and Training
All volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training session for the volunteer service they have selected.

Step Four: Placement
Once a volunteer completes the above steps toward becoming an Iona Volunteer, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact them to arrange the details of their placement. The volunteer’s duties will be contingent upon their interests, availability and the needs of seniors in the Iona community.

Step Five: Enjoy!
Our staff work with each volunteer on an ongoing basis to be sure that the experience is a rewarding one.
