Local Senior Becomes Artist in Residence for Gallery at Iona

Washington DC- Acclaimed local artist Grace Lebow is the new Artist in Residence at the Gallery at Iona. Gallery at Iona, a part of Iona Senior Services, seeks to create a welcoming and engaging exhibition space for visitors to spend time looking at artwork thereby improving their mental and physical well being. Lebow’s paintings and photographs; “Painting with Grace”, will be on display in the Gallery at Iona through mid January. A Meet the Artist Reception will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2009.

Lebow’s professional career has been varied, but she has remained dedicated not only to art but to the needs of seniors and their families. During her career as a Clinical Social Worker, she became a pioneer in the development of Geriatric Care Management. As an artist she has received multiple awards including: First place in the 2007 and 2009 Somerset Art Show, second place in the 2008 Somerset Art Show and second place in the 2008 Chevy Chase Women’s Club. Lebow’s artwork has been included in exhibitions at Strathmore Arts Mansion, the Washington Studio School and Friendship Heights Village Gallery.

Lebow explains how her life-long connection to art began in her childhood, “ever since I can remember, I have explored the world both visually and viscerally. I recall my great pleasure with patterns and colors at a very early age.”

The Meet the Artist event is being held on Thursday November 5, 2009 from 5 to 8pm in the Gallery at Iona, which is located at 4125 Albemarle Street, NW, Washington, DC. The artist reception will feature paintings and photography by Grace Lebow and bronze sculptures by special guest artist Helen Grunstein.
